Why did I join C. Let me tell you why I joined. I moved to Sun City Grand just over four years ago for all of the same reasons everyone else did…. Shortly after settling in, I was wondering what I could do to be a part of my new community.
I remember reading an article about C. It was at that point that I had found my opportunity to get involved and give back to my community. Jack, our current president, and Dennis, our current Evening Patrol scheduler, gave me information on what exactly it was that C. I was provided with the proper training for both Vacation Watch and Evening Patrol. So what exactly is the role of C. Well let me tell you. We look out for you, our neighbors. There are two facets to C. First is Vacation Watch and second is Evening Patrol.
Evening Patrol: Patrollers drive in pairs using the Association vehicles, checking for open garage doors, streets lights that are out, and report any suspicious activity in the community to the Surprise Police Department via the Evening Patrol dispatcher. So let me ask you…. Why not give C. Our next meeting is November Everyone is welcome!

Come out and enjoy the beautiful weather, bring your lawn chair, meet your neighbors, make new friends! Over the years hike leaders, the backbone of chartered club Grand Hikers, have helped interested walkers or hikers on a one-to-one basis.
Seeing their efforts open desert and mountain experiences to residents inspired Grand Hikers to formalize a Mentoring Program in Spring The original vision of the program was to place an interested walker or nature lover with no desert mountain hiking background with an experienced Hiking Club member. It evolved to include customized help for a variety of specific hiking needs. Hiking Mentor Cynthia Janulaitis helps new hiker Tammy Gordon with hiking pole adjustment for optimum performance.
Grand Hikers are willing to take on specific mentoring tasks and serve as resources to get you started and help address your specific needs and questions, such as: n Should I hike with poles or not? Can someone go shopping with me? And it is great working with a new hiker and see them get excited about hiking. Janulaitis and Gordon having some fun showing limbo style is not the best way to go under a low branch. Our priority is to keep hikers safe on the trail while getting the most out of their hiking experience.
She contacted me and I became her hike mentor. We hiked a trail with similar challenges as the intro hike. She has joined the Hiking Club and has been on several of the summer hikes sponsored by the club.
