Welcome to Hackley! Hackley School is pleased to welcome the following new faculty and staff to the academic year. Angela Alonso is our new Lower School Spanish teacher. A native of Seville, Spain, she competed for and attained a scholarship to attend Cornell University for one year, where he met her future husband, Steve Bileca, and decided to stay in the US to pursue a career teaching Spanish in independent schools.

She so enjoyed her first appointment as a teacher was in the Bay Area in Northern California that she never looked back. She finds it extremely rewarding to help non-native speakers take the plunge into learning a second language and emerge with new linguistic abilities and just as importantly, insights into how other cultures and peoples live.

She is thrilled to take on a new professional challenge teaching early language learners after teaching Middle and High School students for 21 years. She lives on campus with her husband and two children. Mother of two Middle School age children, she has spent the last 13 years running Main Street Sweets, the ice cream cafe in Tarrytown, which she owns and runs with her my mother and sister, a role she plans to continue in her spare time.

Prior to starting a family,Ms. Buonanno taught in the Harrison Central School District, Harrison, NY for several years, and is very happy to return to the classroom now that her children are older. Jane Dean came to Hackley last year as an assistant teacher in 3rd grade, and has been named a head teacher in the 2nd Grade this year.

Born and educated near London, England, she relocated to the U. She has taught elementary school for seventeen years, working with every grade level between kindergarten and fifth. She has three children, two of whom are now at college and a daughter who is entering her junior year at high school. Nancy Denious Assistant Teacher joins the Hackley community as a new fourth grade assistant teacher at Hackley, When not in the Lower School, she can be found on the sidelines of the JV field hockey and lacrosse games as the new assistant coach.

Heather Dini Assistant Teacher is a new assistant teacher in the second grade, working with Jane Dean. She came to Hackley mid-year of the year. Teaching represents a career change for Heather — she spent 16 years as a Licensed Veterinary Technician working mostly in an animal hospital in Rhinebeck, N. Y teaching students with Autism. Nell has recently completed her M. Ed in grades at Hunter College and received her B.

Between graduating from college and starting graduate school Ms. Madigan worked in the publishing industry as an editor. She is a new resident of Tarrytown where she resides with her husband and month-old daughter. A school librarian is fortunate enough to see that gleam in students' eyes when they find information or literature of interest and immediately sit down right where they are to pour over it.

I am thankful to join the Hackley community and to be a part of students' curiosity for literature and knowledge within the Santomero Lower School Library. McKay comes to Hackey with various librarian experiences including; over ten years as a children's librarian at Darien Library CT , and two years in independent schools in NYC while obtaining her library media specialist certification. She then spent a year teaching preschool in Columbus, Ohio, before moving to Boston to participate in the Collaborative Internship Program at Lesley University.

She graduated in May with her Master's in Elementary Education and is certified to teach grades Harmon and the 3rd Grade team. At PC, she completed an intensive student teaching program in a 1st Grade general education classroom and a 2nd Grade special education classroom, along with various practicum placements ranging from Kindergarten to 5th Grade.

Most recently, Mr. He loves planting the seeds of curiosity in middle schoolers, and is energized by their openness and sense of wonder. With Marie Koutoulas moving on in her career, Ms Rawlings stepped into the position with flair in early July.
